MY TREKKING GEAR.

I am not an authority on selecting the right gear for the right trip. However, I did ask many questions and, in return, got some well-considered opinions from experts at local outdoor gear retailers. I started with a decent pair of boots that would see me "across all of it." I settled on Arcteryx boots.

Anyone heading across the UK in September should have a good raincoat. I settled on a Goretex jacket that will hopefully suit the job.

A small pack usually means a light pack. Well, this 40 L Gregory is great. It is, however, quite heavy and more than I currently have the will to carry.

A light one-man shelter.

A small stove for a cup of hot tea.

And last but not least is a decent pair of trekking poles. I settled on these Black Diamonds.
